The Five hotel
The Five Hotel is a newly opened designer property. The interior décor is inspired by one of the most noble arts of Asia: lacquer. Indeed, all 24 compact guestrooms feature the lacquer work of artist Isabel Emmerique, who has been working in this form for 30 years and is the only non-Asian artist to have won the Kanasawa Triennale Prize in Japan. This decorative style is complemented by fibre optic lighting and a variety of stylish colour schemes in orange, green, beige and even plum. Also featuring a glass work desk and a 66cm LCD satellite television with more than 100 multilingual channels, all the rooms are clean and well maintained, as are the functional en suite bathrooms. Every morning, the hotel also offers a tasty Continental breakfast that includes Viennese bread and buns from the famous Monge bakery and the inimitable flavour of Mariage Frères brand tea or coffee.
